Water Lilies
•
If you have forgotten water lilies floating
On a dark lake among mountains in the afternoon shade,
If you have
forgotten their wet,
sleepy fragrance,
Then you can return and
not be afraid.
But if you remember, then turn away forever
To the plains and the prairies where pools are far apart,
There you will not come at dusk on closing water lilies,
And the shadow of mountains will not fall on your heart.

Lovely. I so enjoy poetry from the days when it was allowed to be beautiful. Thanks for this post.
it's like dabbling with the stars
In Taiwan, right now is a lotus season, you can see "Lotus Green" everywhere, in the southern Taiwan,Bai Ho, Even as a tourist activities and great celebration.
Taiwanese also eat lotus seeds, in fact, only a few days ago i cooked lotus-seed soup, with chicken ,mushrooms and cook together, very delicious!
i like these interesting scenes , the third one is like in harvesting lotus-seeds, Lotus in Taiwan are likened to a honorable
morality, as it grew up in sludge pond but still clean from smirch.
Oh I do love Sara Teasdale because she wrote so well about every thing that had to do with water.
The windy waves mount up and curve and fall,
And round the rocks the foam blows up like snow --
Tho' I am inland far, I hear and know,
For I was born the sea's eternal thrall.
Doesn't that give you the shivers?
Reading sea poetry makes me homesick. I'm glad you introduced me to a poem that has no relation to my island experience. I can enjoy it without the pangs. :)
thank you so much for that music, imani! i come from michigan, but i've lived in the san francisco bay area for many many years. at one point i thought i might want to move to paris so i rented an apartment for 6 weeks, and the thing that most surprised me, i think, was that i could not stand being so far from the ocean! it's like you are aware of it here every day without even knowing that you are.
hp: i learn so much from you! i have seen photos of lotus there, and well, i'll put a link on la depeche if i can find it again! i love the morality of it.
