very cool observation--i had never made the connection till i read that yesterday!
i did not fully understand the word "Vamp" in the definition of Western culture, so i do not agree that it is tantamount to the Japanese Geisha, As the true spirit of "Geisha" is not the most Westerners can fully understand.
oh no--i certainly did not mean tht to apply to geisha, or any japanese woman. it was the name of the stylke of the western women who borrowed elements of the makeup from japan.
at least that's how i understand it.
and you're right--geisha is widely misunderstood in the west. but we're trying.
