japonisme: sing in the year

01 January 2008

sing in the year

maggie and milly and molly and may

maggie and milly and molly and may

went down to the beach(to play one day)

and maggie discovered a shell that sang

so sweetly she couldn't remember her troubles, and

milly befriended a stranded star

whose rays five languid fingers were;

and molly was chased by a horrible thing

which raced sideways while blowing bubbles:and

may came home with a smooth round stone

as small as a world and as large as alone.

For whatever we lose(like a you or a me)

it's always ourselves we find in the sea

(perhaps from all this you can make a perpetual january. at least this year january 1907 seems to fit. i have some mays and i will look for other months. i wonder if we'll ever have a year.)

happy new year everyone.

Happy New Year to you too, Lotus. I like this poem and the charming calender reminds me of ones from my childhood. I have to get my main computer fixed and it is taking me a while to get back to full steam. Are you ready for the three storms? It's about time we had a major winter storm.

i was actually out the door before 9:30 this morning, which is unheard of for me, cause i wanted to get to trader joes and home again before the storms. a lot of other people had the same idea.

i also have already put my garbage at the street for the friday pickup.

stay warm and dry, dear!

Wow, another beautiful post! Where do you keep getting all these wonderful images?? Are these calendars from Belgium or Holland? (because of the spelling of "januari").
And I also want to wish you a Happy New Year!
